What happens when Jane Austen’s classic love story meets the age of the internet? Pride@Prejudice is a witty, fast-paced, and modern reimagining of Austen’s beloved novel — complete with hashtags, online chatrooms, and plenty of sharp commentary. Five versatile actors bring more than twenty characters to life, moving seamlessly between Regency England and the digital world as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy navigate love, pride, and misunderstandings.

Playful, romantic, and surprisingly relevant, Pride@Prejudice celebrates Austen’s timeless wit while inviting today’s audience to laugh, reflect, and maybe even log in for a little romance of their own.

Character Descriptions – Pride@Prejudice

Actor 1 – Elizabeth Bennet / Modern Blogger

Elizabeth Bennet: Intelligent, witty, independent, and self-assured. She values integrity and is quick to judge but also self-reflective. Her chemistry with Darcy drives the story.
Modern Role: Represents a contemporary feminist voice, often commenting on Austen’s relevance today.

Actor 2 – Fitzwilliam Darcy / Online Scholar

Mr. Darcy: Reserved, proud, and socially awkward, yet deeply honorable. His emotional journey from arrogance to vulnerability is central to the play.
Modern Role: Academic or online Austen enthusiast analyzing class and privilege.

Actor 3 – Jane Bennet / Lydia Bennet / Online Romantic

Jane Bennet: Gentle, kind, and optimistic. She sees the good in everyone and provides emotional balance to Elizabeth’s sharp wit.
Lydia Bennet: Flirtatious, impulsive, and naive—her scandal becomes a pivotal plot point.
Modern Role: A social media romantic obsessed with love stories.

Actor 4 – Mrs. Bennet / Lady Catherine de Bourgh / Online Gossip

Mrs. Bennet: Overbearing and dramatic; obsessed with marrying off her daughters. Her humor stems from her lack of self-awareness.
